Valentines day isn’t only special to those in relationships, Singles can enjoy it too

Is Valentines’ day really that special?

By: Naomi Fisher

Dateline: Greensboro, NC

Valentines Day is a special holiday for people in relationships, the day was created so that lovers can broadcast their love to each other and the world. Most people feel that singles aren’t allowed to celebrate the day, but new millennials are saying otherwise. Self-love on valentine’s day has been the new conversation on social media and a new trend.

According to Brianna Johnson, she believed self – love should be celebrated throughout the year but if you happen to be alone on Valentine’s day take that as a day to celebrate yourself even more. Take a day off or start something new.

“You shouldn’t use valentine’s day as a day to feel pity for yourself if you’re not in a relationship, use that as a time to make yourself feel good. Go shopping, take yourself to dinner or just watch movies and drink wine,” said Brianna Johnson.

Showing people that Valentine’s Day isn’t only about couples is important. A lot of people have lost loved ones, or just simply don’t find valentines day to be special but for those who are single and still want to enjoy the day, there are plenty of ways to do so.   Spending time by yourself can be rewarding, having a glass of wine, a spa day, or even cooking for yourself and enjoying dinner over candles can make you feel so much better about your situation.

Patricia Jackson, 45, says she’s enjoyed valentine’s day with someone and also by herself and feels both experiences are beautiful its just your specific outlook on it.

“I was married at a point in my life and Valentine’s day were really special to us, we made sure to express our love for each other whether it was giving gifts, planning trips or just spending time together. Now that I’m divorced, I realized you can still celebrate yourself the same way or better”.

Covid Outbreak during aggie fest.

Naomi Fisher April 19.2022

This is my wrap about the covid outbreak on campus. Listen here.

While enjoying Aggie fest Aggies weren’t concerned about a covid outbreak. Students who were supposed to be quarantined snuck out of their dorms just to enjoy the festivities. Even though the mask mandate was lifted students nor teachers made sure others were protected.
